South Mississippi

Out trip to south Mississippi was busy with two side trips. One to Arkansas and one to Oklahoma ...

Side trip to Benton Arkansas: We got to Waveland. Mississippi on April 1, 2017. On April 3, 2017 we drove to Benton, AR to be with Jenell while Dow had surgery on his heart. On April 6, 2017 we drove back to Mississippi (about an 8 hour drive).

Side trip to Oklahoma:

We Met Nick at Waterford Nuclear Plant in Killona, Louisiana  and flew to Little Rock. Drove to London then to Round Four Indian Nations Enduro April 22rd at Scipio, OK. And then April 23th Oklahoma Cross Country Racing Association at Henryetta, OK. We flew back to Mississippi along with Nick on Monday, the 24th.

Visitor Center Waterford Nuclear Plant. Had really cool models of the nuclear plant with displays of a PWR fuel assembly (also known as a fuel bundle) without the fuel pellets and a complete simulated control room for training.

The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies had touch pools and was very informative. We watched a dolphin and sea lion show. Gulport is building a new rather large Aquarium to be finished in 2019, which we would love to come back and see. We plan on making a trip once a year to clear our lot.

The Crosby Arboretum, Picayune, MS: This was a very nice trail displaying plants native to the Pearl River Drainage Basin ecosystem. There is a lovely pavilion called Pinecote Pavilion which is worth seeing. It was designed by Fay Jones, famous architect from Fayetteville, AR, who designed Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, AR.

We also went by The Biloxi Lighthouse .

We visited the Bay Saint Louis Train Depot and Mardi Gras Museum and the Alice Moseley Museum, displaying numerous painting by this artist.

Visited City Hall in Pass Christian to check on lot restrictions and building codes. Visited the libary there, which is connected to City Hall, and attended a 2 hour beginner birding seminar. We now try to identify birds as we see them but we are not very good at it yet.

Visited Watters Architecture to talk about getting plans drawn for tiny house. Still considering .

Had lot bushhogged and had signs made to put on property to sell. Would love to have a house built but not in our plans at the moment.

Mostly we had fun watching the woodpeckers, blue jays, and bunny rabbits at our camp site. One woodpecker in particular had built a nest and was very entertaining.
